The Hamm Institute for American Energy at Oklahoma State University announced the appointment of Katie Altshuler as deputy executive director Thursday.

Altshuler brings more than two decades of experience in energy, policy and public affairs. Most recently, she managed federal and state government affairs, regulatory strategy and community relations for Marathon Oil Corporation.

At the federal level, Altshuler served in the Senate as a senior floor assistant and policy advisor to Sen. Don Nickles in the Whip Office and later as staff director for the Senate Republican Policy Committee. In Oklahoma, she was policy director for two House speakers and Gov. Mary Fallin.

“We are thrilled to welcome Katie Altshuler to the Hamm Institute,” said Dr. Ann Bluntzer Pullin, executive director of the Hamm Institute for American Energy. “Her unique blend of energy and policy experience will strengthen our ability to shape national conversations and drive impactful solutions for America’s energy future.”

As deputy executive director, Altshuler will lead strategic initiatives that bridge policy, industry and academia in support of the institute’s mission to advance secure, affordable and sustainable energy for the United States and its allies.
