The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts at Oklahoma State University is set to host “The Magic of Jen Kramer,” an all-ages performance, on Jan. 29. This 90-minute show will feature Kramer’s sleight-of-hand magic, storytelling and signature energy.

Kramer, who headlines her Las Vegas show at the Westgate Resort and Casino, recently made history as the first female magician to win Las Vegas Weekly’s 2024 Best of Vegas Award for Best Magician. She is also known for captivating audiences with her unique approach to magic, which blends technical mastery with narratives and audience interaction.

“Having a magic residency in Las Vegas has been my dream since I was a kid, and I feel really grateful to have the opportunity to do something I love,” Kramer said. “To be recognized in the Best of Vegas Awards for sharing that experience of wonder with people means so much to me.”

Kramer’s love for magic began at age 10 when her uncle gifted her the book “The Royal Road to Card Magic.” She spent hours practicing card tricks in her childhood bedroom and performed at birthday parties, bookstores and private events throughout her school years. After interning with magician Nathan Burton in Las Vegas during her college summers, Kramer moved to Las Vegas after graduating from Yale University in 2014 to pursue magic full time.

Jen Kramer, who headlines her Las Vegas show at the Westgate Resort and Casino, recently made history as the first female magician to win Las Vegas Weekly’s 2024 Best of Vegas Award for Best Magician.

Kramer’s performances have taken her worldwide, including on major television shows like “Penn and Teller: Fool Us.” She recently performed in San José, Costa Rica, with Magicians Without Borders, an organization that spreads entertainment and education to at-risk youths worldwide. Kramer also serves on the program’s advisory board.

As a woman in a male-dominated field, Kramer also encourages girls and women to become magicians, and they have. She says she is incredibly supportive of her fellow women in magic as the industry moved further in that direction.

“To any aspiring magicians out there or anyone looking to pursue a career in entertainment, I’d encourage you to do what you love, to work hard at it and to be proactive – to go after opportunities rather than waiting for them to come to you,” Kramer said.

The upcoming sold-out performance at The McKnight Center marks an opportunity for Oklahoma audiences to experience Kramer’s artistry. Kramer also just completed two “Young People’s Concerts” where she performed for more than a thousand first and second-graders in the Stillwater, Perkins-Tryon and Cushing school districts.

“We’re bringing the magic direct from Las Vegas to Stillwater,” Kramer said. “It’s going to be a fun, magical evening, and I hope to see you there.”
