OSU Campus Life names director of student conduct and deputy Title IX coordinator

Jeff Bates has been named director of student conduct and deputy title IX coordinator within the Oklahoma State University Campus Life’s Student Conduct office.

Before joining OSU, Bates was assistant director of conduct and conflict resolution at Florida State University. Previously, Bates held various roles related to student conduct and residential learning at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, Tulane University, University of South Carolina and Appalachian State University.

Bates brings an extensive background in conduct and conflict resolution, with a concentration on assisting college students navigate and resolve conflicts peacefully.

"It truly is an honor to be able to serve such incredible students alongside a dedicated staff in such a tightknit community,” Bates said. “I’ve had great respect for the Division of Student Affairs at Oklahoma State since I began my career almost a decade ago, so I am eager to continue to build on the legacy that exists here."

In this role, Bates will provide strategic leadership and management for the universitywide student conduct process and coordinate the institution’s response to sexual misconduct involving students. He will be key in advancing student accountability, personal and ethical development and promoting a safe campus environment.

Bates will report to Dr. Aleigha Marriott, assistant vice president of Campus Life.

"Jeff brings a wealth of valuable experience to Campus Life’s Student Conduct office, and we are excited to have him on board,” Marriott said. “His role in fostering accountability and ethical decision-making is vital in supporting a safe campus community."

Bates received his bachelor’s degree in education and special education from Lebanon Valley College, his Master of Arts in higher education and student affairs administration from Appalachian State University and a Master of Business Administration specializing in organizational behavior and human resources from Florida State University.
