College of Education Recognizes Top 10 Seniors for 2014

The Oklahoma State University College of Education has announced its Top 10 Senior students for 2014.

Selected by the Student Affairs Committee, these students have demonstrated exceptional qualities of leadership, academic excellence, and service.  Recipients must have completed 90 or more credit hours, 24 of which must be at OSU, and be eligible to graduate during the 2014 calendar year.  These students will be recognized on Friday, May 9, during the College of Education Excellence Awards reception. Honored students are:

Alexandra Adams is graduating in May with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Adams has been involved in the Student Oklahoma Education Association, Students Today Alumni Tomorrow and Kappa Kappa Iota.  She has also been active in Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, including service as recruitment chair. Adams was selected to serve as the undergraduate representative on the Professional Education Council and also represented OSU at the Summer Institute for Character Education. In addition, she has consistently made the President’s Honor Roll and participated in many community service projects.

Jenna Clinkenbeard is graduating in May with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education English. A native of Coweta, Oklahoma, Clinkenbeard has been a College of Education Ambassador, serving as vice president of the group in 2012-13. She has been a member of Kappa Kappa Iota, the Student Oklahoma Education Association, and Kappa Delta Phi Honor Society. She was nominated for Student Employee of the Year and also received the Jerry and Mary Burson Endowed Scholarship. Clinkenbeard participated in a pre-student teaching internship, resulting in spending a full-year student teaching to help develop a pilot program for future students at OSU.

Abigail Dankert is slated to graduate in August 2014 with a Bachelor Science in Leisure Studies – Therapeutic Recreation. The Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, native has been active in the OSU Therapeutic Recreation Majors Club, serving as treasurer in 2013-14. Dankert received College of Education academic scholarships and consistently made the President’s or Dean’s Honor Roll. She is a member of the Therapeutic Recreation Association of Oklahoma, the American Therapeutic Recreation Association and Rho Phi Lambda Honors Fraternity. 

Brannon Frank is graduating in May with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Social Studies and Bachelor of Arts in History as well as minors in middle eastern studies and geography. Frank has been a member of the President’s Honor Roll every semester at OSU and received numerous academic scholarships. He also studied abroad in the fall of 2012 at Alexandria University in Egypt. Frank has been active as a competitive rock climber and instructor.

Eric Grant is graduating in May with two Bachelors of Science degrees in Aerospace Administration and Operations, Options in Professional Pilot and Aviation Management. Grant has been a member of the OSU Small and Large Coed Cheer Squads, winning a pair of national championships. The Pasco, Washington, native has also been active with the OSU Flying Aggies and worked as a flight instructor at the OSU Flight Center. He has served as a Resident Advisor and an Orientation Leader. Grant is a five-time member of the President’s Honor Roll and made the Dean’s Honor Roll once.

Stefani Hays is graduating in May with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a minor in coaching science. The Fort Worth, Texas, native has been active in the OSU Physical Education club and in leadership positions with Phi Mu Fraternity. Hays had a manuscript accepted for the Oklahoma Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Journal. She has consistently been a Dean’s Honor Roll Student.

Jennifer Holcomb is slated to graduate in August 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Promotion, Option in Health and Exercise. The Choctaw, Okla., native worked as research assistant in the College of Education’s School of Applied Health and Educational Psychology and as a Peer Health Educator on campus. Holcomb served as a College of Education Senator for the OSU Student Government Association. She has been a member of the College of Education Ambassadors, including serving as the group’s secretary, and a part of Education Student Council. Holcomb also studied abroad Cambridge University in England in July 2013. 

Kirsten Krull is graduating in May with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training - Pre-Professional option and an OSU Honors degree. A native of Stillwell, Kan., Krull was recognized as an OSU Senior of Significance for 2013-14 and was among the Top 15 Homecoming Royalty in 2013. She is a member of Order of Omega as well as the Blue Key and Phi Kappa Phi Honors Societies. Krull has been active in Kappa Delta sorority and the Athletic Training Student Association while participating in many community service projects. She is a six-time member of the President’s Honor Roll and made the Dean’s Honor Roll once. Krull is the College of Education’s Orange Robe graduate. 

Mason Williams is graduating in May with a Bachelor of Science Leisure Studies - Recreation Management. Williams is from Choctaw, Oklahoma. He has been active in the OSU Recreation Club, including service as vice president. He was a student delegate to the Oklahoma Recreation and Parks Society and the National Recreation and Parks Society. Williams was also vice president of the Wesley Foundation and participated in a number of community service efforts. He has been inducted to Rho Phi Lambda, Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Alpha Lambda honors societies. 

Ellen Winter is graduating in May with Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. An Edmond, Oklahoma, native, Winter participated in the College of Education’s ExCEL student teaching internship program and also completed a student teaching internship abroad at Lakenheath Air Force Base in England. She has served as vice president of Education Student Council and made the President’s or Dean’s Honor Roll each semester at Oklahoma State. Winter also has been active as a Young Life Leader and in her sorority, Chi Omega.
