“OSU and the Choctaw Nation: Collaborate and Educate” Recognized

College of Education Dean Pamela “Sissi” Carroll accepted one of three awards for the 2014 Oklahoma State University President’s Cup for Creative Interdisciplinary Competition for the “OSU and the Choctaw Nation: Collaborate and Educate” project during the Oklahoma State University Awards Convocation on November 18. The competition recognizes and rewards creative interdisciplinary instruction, research and service.

A team of nearly 20 faculty in the OSU College of Education and the College of Arts and Sciences are working together with the Choctaw Nation education leadership on the project in an effort to sustain and improve learning and promote college readiness.  Plans include summer school sessions for first through third graders in 88 school districts in Southeast Oklahoma where the Choctaw Nation is located and academically-oriented residential summer camps for middle and high school students who are members of the Choctaw Nation to held on OSU’s Stillwater campus.
