Nutritional sciences faculty and students honored by Oklahoma Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

Dr. Gail Gates was honored as the Outstanding Dietetic Educator in a Dietetic Internship. She is a Regents Service Professor and Graduate Coordinator in NSCI. Carol Beier, director, Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), was presented the Outstanding Dietetic Educator in a DPD award.From left, Dr. Gail Gates, Alexandra Pyles, Mallory Crutchfield, Sarah Cloeter and Carol Beier.

Mallory Crutchfield, NSCI M.S. student from Tulsa, received the Outstanding Dietetic Student in a Dietetic Internship Award. Riley Larson, senior from Owasso, received the Outstanding Dietetic Student in a DPD.

Riley is also a Senior of Distinction in the College of Education and Human Sciences. Alexandra (Lexy) Pyles, NSCI M.S. student from Chicago, received the Joline Miracle Memorial Scholarship and Sarah Cloeter, senior from Broken Arrow, received the North Central District Dietetic Association Scholarship.

Sarah is a Senior of Distinction in Human Sciences. The awards and scholarships were presented in April at the 2015 Oklahoma Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Spring Convenition.

Dr. Gates, a Fellow of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, was also named 2015 Outstanding Educator in a Dietetic Internship for Area 4 (Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah) from the Nutrition and Dietetic Educators and Preceptors of the Academy. She will be recognized at the Area 4 annual meeting in Denver on May 1-2.
