Student Receives National Leadership and Service Award

Tuesday, October 24, 2017

Courtney Wright

After graduating from OSU in May 2017 with her Master’s in Leisure Studies, Courtney Wright received the National Leadership and Service Award from Rho Phi Lambda. She was honored with this award in New Orleans on September 27.

While at OSU, Wright’s research investigated the changes in public perception of acceptable and taboo recreation as compared to the early research in the area. Wright also served as chair of the Leisure Studies Graduate Association and organized the first Rest and Relaxation event at OSU, which served as a way to reduce student’s stress during finals week.

Rho Phi Lambda is the national honor fraternity for recreation, parks, tourism and recreational therapy. Rho Phi Lambda strives to cultivate, promote and recognize students of the leisure profession.

This is the seventh consecutive year that an OSU student has received a national Rho Phi Lambda award.
