Director's Chair honorees Brya D'Abrosca and Drake Burns

EHA Student-Athletes Honored at Awards Banquet

Two College of Education, Health and Aviation student-athletes were recognized at the annual Oklahoma State University Academic Awards banquet on April 9. Brya D’Abrosca and Drake Burnshealth education and promotion seniors, were both honored as Director’s Chair winners for the OSU Spirit Group.

The Director’s Chair is awarded to a student-athlete in each sport who has demonstrated success in the classroom as well as in the community and on the field of competition. The chair winner is chosen by a committee considering several factors, including cumulative grade point average, academic achievement, community service and leadership, closest to graduation, exhausted eligibility, number of years on the team and athletic achievement.

D’Abrosca is from Dallas, Texas and has been a member of the OSU cheer team since 2014. She was recently recognized as a Senior of Significance for the 2017-2018 academic year by the OSU Alumni Association. D’Abrosca will graduate in August 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Promotion with an option in exercise and health. She plans to remain on the cheer team next year while attending graduate school at OSU.

Burns is from Tulsa, Oklahoma and has been a member of the OSU cheer team for the past three years. He will graduate in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Promotion with an option in exercise and health. After graduation, Burns will begin the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Tulsa.
