What made you pursue a career in aviation?
Aviation is something my father and I have been passionate about since I was young. My lifelong goal has been to become a pilot and my experience in the College of Education, Health and Aviation has made my dream a reality. I’m proud to have made the most of the opportunities afforded to me by this wonderful university. I earned by pilot’s license through OSU in 2015 and I have 250 flight hours to date!
What stands out to you most about your experience in the OSU aviation program?
The quality of instruction and dedicated faculty!
What were you involved in as a student at OSU?
I was involved in several organizations, including the Flying Aggies, OSU Flight Team, Civil Air Patrol, OSU AVED Safety Committee and the OSU Police Department as a student employee.
Expand on your experience with the Civil Air Patrol. What did that entail?
Since 2015, I’ve been a member of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) in the Stillwater Squadron as a mission pilot and aerospace education officer. Civil Air Patrol is a civilian volunteer program that has three main missions: emergency services, cadet programs and aerospace education. As a member, I’ve led the cadets on an education journey about aerospace that forms a core of their progression through CAP’s cadet programs. I also train and study to stay current as a mission pilot in the event that I’m called to fly transport or other CAP missions.
I was recently recognized by the University Network on Community Engagement (UNCE) for Outstanding Leadership in Service and Civic Engagement for my work with the Civil Air Patrol. It was truly an honor to receive this award. I’m extremely grateful for the experience and all that it has taught me.
What’s next for you?
I received a full-time offer as an analyst with American Airlines in Fort Worth, Texas. I’m beyond excited to start this new chapter in my professional journey!
