Emily Roberts recognized by The DaVinci Institute

Monday, April 9, 2018

Emily Roberts, an assistant professor in the Department of Design, Housing and Merchandising, was recognized as a DaVinci Fellow from the DaVinci Institute for the second consecutive year.

Roberts, an assistant professor in the Department of Design, Housing and Merchandising, was recognized as the 2018 DaVinci Creativity Education Assessment Fellow at the organization’s recent annual awards dinner in Oklahoma City.

The mission of The DaVinci Institute is to promote a statewide creativity renaissance through lectures, workshops, professional development, research and advocacy. The DaVinci Institute believes creative thought and insight are fundamental components of extraordinary scholarship, invention, teaching, and performance across academic disciplines and funds creative projects, broadly defined, among Oklahoma’s higher education faculty.

With the 2018 DaVinci Creativity Education Assessment Fellow Award, Roberts continues her work to facilitate development of new models of dementia programs and services for the state of Oklahoma.  As a kick-off for this work, an interdisciplinary student-led weekend design charrette took place in March at OSU and outcomes for this event were assessed through the lens of creativity to shed light on how students from design and social science disciplines experience, interact and exchange knowledge to envision novel solutions to a multi-layered real-world problem. Roberts was awarded a medal embossed with Leonardo DaVinci’s Vitruvian Man and $1,000.
