NSCI graduate named 40 Under 40

Tuesday, April 30, 2019

Oklahoma State University alumna Claire (Grady) Gish, a two-time graduate of the Department of Nutritional Sciences in the College of Human Sciences, has been recognized as one of Oklahoma Magazine’s 40 Under 40. Gish graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nutritional sciences: dietetics in 2009 and a master’s degree in the same field in 2011.

Since graduating, Gish has worked in Tulsa as a Clinical Dietitian at the Laureate Eating Disorder Program, a part of the Saint Francis Health System. She serves as the manager of nutrition therapy for the program and is also on the board of the Oklahoma Eating Disorder Association.

Gish holds multiple certifications, including Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Licensed Dietitian, and Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian.

Oklahoma Magazine recognizes 40 individuals throughout the state each year in its 40 Under 40 Class. The magazine describes these individuals as “mavericks – innovators who go the extra mile, disrupt the status quo, push to improve the state and guide others by unwavering fierce example.”

Gish does these things by meeting with a full caseload of patients, overseeing dietitians and culinary staff in the program, and lecturing on nutritional rehabilitation.

Gish uses an “All Foods Fit” approach when interacting with her patients and staff. This legalizes any food, allowing for flexibility and trust, according to Saint Francis website.

“It is such a blessing to witness an oftentimes lost, scared and hopeless individual come to life again through nutrition,” Gish said in Oklahoma Magazine.
