Frontiers of Power Conference Award Student Scholarships

(STILLWATER, Okla., November 6, 2012) – Four students from Oklahoma State University were awarded scholarships during the 45th annual Frontiers of Power Conference through the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology. These scholarships were given in memory of Dr. Bill Hughes, former head for the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at OSU.

Braden Colbert and Michael Lenth, both undergraduate students, will each receive $400, while Sowmya Nellutla and Zeel Maheshwari, graduate students, will each receive a $600 scholarship. These students were selected as top academic candidates who will enter the field of power and energy.

Dr. Rama Ramakumar, Regents Professor and Director of the Engineering Energy Laboratory said he was excited to offer the scholarships to students, as they will be future leaders in this industry. Dr. Ramakumar also holds the PSO/Albrecht Naeter Endowed Chair.

The conference was held on October 29-30 in Stillwater, Okla. The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as the Engineering Energy Laboratory at OSU co-sponsored with OG&E, Public Service Company of Oklahoma, Grand River Dam Authority and Siemens Energy to deliver this intense two-day event.

This conference is considered one of the longest running of its kind. With energy issues as a major source of debate worldwide, this conference brought together nearly 100 industry experts to discuss solutions and upcoming challenges.
