Nine Students Named Seniors of Significance

STILLWATER, Okla. (Nov. 12, 2012) – Nine College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology students have been selected as Oklahoma State University Seniors of Significance for the 2012-2013 academic year by the OSU Alumni Association.

 

Nicholas Ryan Cain, Collin Craige, Carrie Foster, Katie Haning, Flint Holbrook, Zachary N. Keith, Mikayla Marvin, Lashun Oakley and Amelia Jeannette Wilson have been selected as OSU Seniors of Significance, which recognizes students who have excelled in scholarship, leadership and service to campus and community and have brought distinction to OSU.

 

“This group represents approximately one percent of the senior class and OSU’s best with their involvement in numerous service and leadership organizations,” says Larry Shell, OSU Alumni Association president. “We are honored to recognize them for their achievements and support them as they prepare to join the OSU alumni family.”

 

Nicholas Ryan Cain is a chemical engineering major from Tuttle, Okla. During his time at OSU, Cain was involved in the SGA Senate and the ChemE Car Nationals in Pittsburgh. He traveled to China for an engineering study abroad trip.

 

Collin Craige is a biosystem and agricultural engineering major from Bokchito, Okla. During his time at OSU, Craige served as the southeast region president of The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and was the Cowboy Motorsports secretary. He volunteered his time with the University Heights Baptist Church Coffee House and was the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Student Council senator.

 

Carrie Foster is an architecture major from Murphy, Texas. During her time at OSU, Foster was a College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology Scholar and served as president of the OSU chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students. She was a success coach leader and teacher’s assistant and will be the top architecture graduate in December.

 

Katie Haning is a chemical engineering major from Allen, Texas. During her time at OSU, Haning was named the Women for OSU Student Philanthropist of the Year and was awarded the Southwest Chemical Association Scholarship. She was involved with the Baptist Collegiate Ministry and the OSU Student Foundation.

 

Flint Holbrook is a biochemical engineering major from Clover, S.C. During his time at OSU, Holbrook served as the Student Government Association president. He was awarded the Udall Scholarship in 2011 and received a Top 16 placement in the Riata Business Plan Competition.

 

Zachary N. Keith is a civil engineering major from Oklahoma City, Okla. During his time at OSU, Keith participated in Camp Cowboy as a counselor and served as an academic tutor and teaching assistant. He was active in the OSU Trombone Choir and was a team leader for the first OSU team to enter the NCEES Design Competition.

 

Mikayla Marvin is a biosystems engineering major from Yukon, Okla. During her time at OSU, Marvin served as the 2011-2012 Fountain Wars design team president and was a College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology success coach leader. She was named a Lew Wentz Research Scholar and a College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology Scholar.

 

Lashun Oakley is a mechanical engineering major from Ada, Okla. During her time at OSU, Oakley was involved with the OSU Student Foundation and was named a W.W. Allen Scholar. She was a member of the OSU Singers and the Oklahoma State Baptist Collegiate Ministries.

 

Amelia Jeannette Wilson is a mechanical and aerospace engineering and Spanish language and literature major from Stillwater, Okla. During her time at OSU, Wilson served as vice president of Engineers Without Borders and was named the 2011-2012 OSU Student Philanthropist of the Year. She was an intern at the OSU University Multispectral Laboratories and contributed to the OSU Journal of Undergraduate Research Vol. 1.

 

A public reception to recognize the 48 Seniors of Significance Award winners will be held on November 19 at 5:30 p.m. at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center in Stillwater, Okla.
