2004 ARCHITECTURE ALUMNA WINS 2014 HOLCIM AWARD FOR NORTH AMERICA

(STILLWATER, Okla., September 30, 2014) -- We are proud to announce OSU alumnae Amy (Thighen) Mielke as a recipient of the 2014 Holcim Award for North America. The Holcim Foundation, based in Zurich, Switzerland, announced the award on September 18, 2014, for Sustainable Construction.

The triennial competition awarded $330,000 to 13 projects. Amy and her team won first place received $100,000 for their project “Poreform – Water absorptive surface and subterranean basin.” The design proposal works to solve local drainage systems in Las Vegas, which are currently incapable of handling and collecting water that floods the Las Vegas valley during heavy rainfall.
