(Stillwater, Okla., March 12, 2014) – The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology has selected Erick Reynolds, Ed.D. as the new director of Fire Service Training.
Reynolds holds three degrees from Oklahoma State University: a B.S. in Trade and Industrial Education, and M.S. and Ed.D. in Occupational and Adult Education.
Reynolds has been the manager of professional services and industrial programs at OSU Fire Service Training for the past two years, following twelve years serving the Eastern Oklahoma Technology Center in Choctaw, including three years as assistant superintendent.
Reynolds served as a volunteer firefighter for Freedom, Okla. and as chief for Milfay, Okla. volunteer fire department. He also served four years as secretary for the Industrial and Economic Development Authority in Harrah, Okla.
Ed Kirtley, Assistant Dean for CEAT Outreach and Extension, and former head of FST, said of Reynold’s appointment, “I’m confident that Erick’s background and experience in fire service training is going to continue to strong performance of Fire Service Training. He has proven his leadership in the development of a fire training program at a career technology center and as the professional programs manager at FST. His understanding of the needs of the Oklahoma fire service and credibility as a volunteer fire chief will ensure our programs continue to serve our state’s emergency responders.”
While at OSU, Reynolds has been instrumental in expanding the relationship between Fire Service Training and industrial partners. Among the efforts he has developed is a new symposium with industry partners; exploring ways that OSU FST can better prepare emergency responders for industrial needs.
Speaking on his appointment, Reynolds says, "I am excited about heading up OSU Fire Service Training! We have an incredible group of dedicated professionals that work tirelessly to bring quality fire training to the emergency responders all across the great state of Oklahoma. We look forward to continuing our efforts in these areas and to working with the Oklahoma fire service to meet their particular training needs and to providing low-cost, high quality training to responders all across Oklahoma."
As an outreach unit of Oklahoma State University, Fire Service Training creates and delivers elite training, continued education and professional certifications to emergency responders in Oklahoma. In the 2013 calendar year, FST provided training in all 77 counties in Oklahoma to 38,867 first responders.
