IFSAC September 2015 Fall Meeting

The International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) held its regular Fall meetings September 24 - 26, 2015, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Seattle Airport in Seattle, Washington. The meetings were hosted by the Washington State Patrol - Fire Protection Bureau, a member entity of IFSAC since February, 1991. Activity for the Fall meetings included meetings for two workgroups, twelve committees, the Council of Governors, the Certificate Assembly Board of Governors, the Degree Assembly Board of Governors, the Congress as a whole, the Certificate Assembly, and the Degree Assembly. Thirty-five certifying entities from six countries and 15 higher-education degree-granting institutions from three countries were represented at the meetings.

At their meeting on Friday, September 25, the Certificate Assembly Board of Governors approved re-accreditation of two certifying entities and initial accreditation of two certifying entities. On the same day, the Degree Assembly Board of Governors met and approved two fire-related degree programs at one higher education institution for initial accreditation. In addition, since April, 2015, two higher-education degree-granting institutions were approved as members of the IFSAC Degree Assembly.

In addition to the holding its regular Fall meetings, the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress celebrated its 25th anniversary with a luncheon for all attendees. Remarks on the organization’s success, history, and individuals were made by the organization’s Director Clayton Moorman, Certificate Assembly Board of Governors Chairwoman Theresa Staples, Degree Assembly Board of Governors Chairman Lee Silvi, and Certificate Assembly Committee on Site Teams Chairman Wayne Bailey.

IFSAC will hold its next regular meetings for the Congress, boards, assemblies, and committees April 27 - 30, 2016, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
