Three CEAT students named University Innovation Fellows

Thursday, October 29, 2015

STILLWATER, Okla. (Oct. 29, 2015) – Three students from the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology have completed the necessary training to become University Innovation Fellows at the National Center for Engineering Pathways to Innovation (Epicenter).

Audrey Tompkins, fire protection and safety engineering technology major, doctoral student Salah Hamm, mechanical engineering major and graduate Nathanial Evans, mechanical engineering major, will be recognized along with two students from the OSU Spears School of Business – Kevin Christensen, entrepreneurship major, and Luke Janc, marketing major.

“It’s been inspiring to see the Fellows’ impact at such a large scale,” Leticia Britos Cavagnaro, co-leader of the University Innovation Fellows program, says. “The Fellows themselves are learning to be leaders and creative problem solvers, and they’re bringing other students along with them on this journey to make a positive difference at their schools and in their communities.”

Only 150 students from 52 universities nationwide were recognized as University Innovation Fellows.

“With the addition of this new cohort, we’ve trained over 450 students at 130 institutions in the last four years,” Humera Fasihuddin, co-leader of the University Innovation Fellows program, says. “Faculty and administrators are funding a consistent supply of students to go through the program because they can count on Fellows to make a big impact. Fellows understand the big picture and use their resourcefulness, creativity and national network to make measurable gains on campus, both in the number of resources and the students served by the innovation and entrepreneurship program.”
