Hardin named Director of Master of Science in Engineering and Technology Management at OSU

Monday, May 2, 2016

(STILLWATER, Okla., May 2, 2016) – Tim Hardin, Ph.D., a native Oklahoman, has joined the faculty of the industrial engineering and management program and assumed the duties of director of the master of science in engineering and technology management (MSETM) degree. He is the first to hold the position full-time.

“It speaks volumes about our administration’s belief in the MSETM program that we were able to attract and hire someone dedicated to teaching ETM students and building the program,” says Brenda Johnson, MSETM assistant director. “Hardin is a great fit for the program because he brings relevant experience to the director’s position.”

Hardin was raised in Oklahoma City and received his bachelor’s in industrial engineering from the University of Oklahoma. His career in the industry took him from airlines to financial services to owning a small business in technical machinery sales. After his career, he returned to academia to obtain his master’s and Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Louisville, where he joined the teaching faculty in computer science and industrial engineering. Prior to joining the faculty at OSU, he successfully managed the conversion of the master of engineering in engineering management degree at the University of Louisville from a face-to-face degree to an exclusively online program.

Unlike a traditional master’s degree, the MSETM degree is offered entirely through distance learning.  With a current global student body of over 120 professionals representing over 50 companies, the reach of the program is broad.

“Enabling engineers, scientists and technicians to grow professionally by providing a quality education is my primary focus,” says Hardin. “Growing the enrollment in MSETM will enable us to broaden the course offerings such that our students will be able to further tailor their education to their individual goals.”

Since 1998, OSU’s MSETM program has produced over 560 graduates. For more information, visit http://etm.okstate.edu.
