(STILLWATER, Okla., September 16, 2016) – The OSU Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) student chapter has been recognized as a gold standard SPE chapter for its exceptional programs in industry engagement, operations and planning, community involvement, professional development and innovation.
OSU SPE connects its members with potential employers and provides opportunities to showcase various petroleum engineering skills. SPE also has representatives from regional oil companies present on current industry topics to its members.
“Our petroleum engineering program is quickly creating a tradition of student success in the Society of Petroleum Engineers,” says Rob Whiteley, chemical engineering professor, chemical engineering school head and Bartlett Chair of Engineering. “We all benefit from this success.”
The OSU SPE chapter was established in May 2013, and it has quickly excelled as a student organization.
“It is truly an exceptional achievement, especially as our chapter is very young,” says Prem Bikkina, chemical engineering assistant professor. “The credit goes to our amazing previous and current officers, and of course the OSU administration for their constant support for the chapter.”
