STILLWATER, Okla. – Rachel Mosier, assistant professor in Construction Management Technology has been awarded the International Excellence in Teaching Award and the Regional Teaching Award for Region 5 from the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC).

Mosier was selected to receive these awards because of her significant contribution to construction education, excellence in teaching and service to the ASC.

She received her undergraduate degree in Architectural Engineering and is licensed as a professional engineer in Construction Engineering. Her masters and doctoral degrees are from the University of Oklahoma in Construction Administration and Engineering respectively.

“[Mosier] has put in a lot of effort to give the best to her students,” said Young Chang, centennial professor and head of the division of engineering technology. “She is one who never stops exploring the possibility of improving her teaching.”

Mosier’s areas of academic interests include heavy highway estimating, business practices, site and structural design. Her dissertation identified the cost of sustainable construction to owners, specifically Oklahoma City. Additional work is on-going in the area of sustainability in construction and LEED.

“Dr. Mosier does not have the reputation as the easiest teacher, however she is respected by the students and employers because she cares about student’s learning and shaping a good product for the construction industry,” said Heather Yates, program coordinator and associate professor of OSU construction management technology.

Mosier is an active member of the American Public Works Associations, National Council of Structural Engineers Associations, and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Chi Epilson.
