Oklahoma State University’s College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT) ranked high in three online master’s degree programs, according to Online Master’s Degree (OMD) 2022 online rankings.

CEAT’s Fire and Emergency Management Administration (FEMP) master’s degree program ranked No.1 nationally for Best Online Master’s Programs in Emergency Management. This program is fully online and prepares graduates for leadership positions in many critical service positions.

“I think the reason the FEMP master’s program is successful is because we have a hybrid model of classes that allows our students, from across the country, to interact with each other in live seminar courses,” said FEMP Program Coordinator and Associate Professor Dr. Haley Murphy. “That helps students develop a relationship with their faculty and with other students in the program. Our students develop a tight network that helps them be successful in individual classes, the overall program and even professionally through the sharing of resources and information.  I think our students are really special, and they make the program special.”

CEAT also received rankings in Engineering and Technology Management’s (ETM) master’s degree program being ranked No.6 in Best Online Master’s Programs in Engineering Management and the engineering’s master’s degree program being ranked No.14 in Best Online Master’s Program in Engineering.

Regents Professor and Head of Industrial Engineering and Management, Dr. Sunderesh Heragu, thanks graduates and faculty for the ETM program ranking high for several years.

“The ETM master’s degree program conceived and launched in 1998 by Dr. Ken Case, Emeritus Professor of the School of Industrial Engineering and Management, has helped more than 1,000 students apply skills, tools and technologies they learn to the benefit of their companies, while advancing their own careers,” Heragu said. “Thanks to an excellent cadre of faculty assisted by staff (Ms. Valerie Quirey) and the success of our graduates, the ETM master’s degree program has been ranked high for the past several years by several ranking agencies.”

Over 7,700 schools were evaluated in the rankings process. Data was collected from the U.S. Department of Education and then ranked into 70 unique master’s degree subjects. Schools must hold active regional accreditation and provide academic counseling and career placement services for students in order to qualify.

The main data points included in the ranking algorithm are:

  • Number of online programs in subject area
  • Number of online students
  • Online program tuition and fees
  • Percentage of students offered institutional aid
  • Amount of institutional aid awarded per student

“What differentiates us from other organizations is our focus on creating meaningful student interactions, instead of simply student transactions,” said Nathan Cragun, manager for CEAT Online Learning.  “The college utilizes both best practices and new technologies to enhance the overall experience of students, which directly correlates to their overall success.”
