The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (CEAT) at Oklahoma State University has been ranked No. 18 among the 2023 Best Online Master’s in Engineering Programs by U.S. News & World Report. CEAT also ranked No. 14 in Best Online Master’s in Engineering Programs for Veterans.
U.S. News assessed schools in the Best Online Programs based on a variety of objective factors, such as student engagement, faculty credentials, services and technologies.
“OSU’s College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology has built one of the nation’s best online graduate educational experiences over many years,” said Dr. Paul Tikalsky, dean of CEAT. “Our programs in engineering and technology management, fire and emergency management, and electrical engineering are essential professional degrees for our nation’s corporate and technical leaders. Oklahoma State is committed to advancing careers through higher education and experiential learning.”
Designed for individuals looking to complete or further their education, this year's edition evaluates more than 1,800 online bachelor's and master's degree programs. The Best Online Programs include rankings of bachelor's programs as well as the following master's-level disciplines: MBA, business (non-MBA), computer information technology (including computer science), criminal justice/criminology, education, engineering, and nursing. While the methodologies are different for each discipline, they all incorporate metrics specific to online learning. The rankings only include degree-granting programs that are offered primarily online by regionally accredited institutions.
“The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University has been offering online graduate engineering education to working professionals since 1998,” said Dr. Sunderesh Heragu, associate dean of CEAT. “The degrees offered allow mid-career professionals – located all over the world – to gain new knowledge and advance their careers without having to leave their full-time job. We are delighted to be recognized as one of the top 15 programs for veterans and among public institutions.”
CEAT continues to emphasize the importance of continuing education for current professionals, reflected by its dedication to the advancement and implementation of graduate level degree programs.
“We appreciate this recognition as it reflects the dedication and contributions of CEAT administration, faculty and staff in providing a truly exceptional educational experience for students,” said Nathan Cragun, manager of CEAT Online Learning. “It highlights the college’s commitment to being an innovative leader in the various fields of engineering through research, teaching and outreach efforts. Furthermore, it demonstrates CEAT’s commitment to academic excellence and student success, the result of which positively impacts countless lives, families, organizations and communities.”
"Most of the undergraduate programs in the Best Online Programs rankings are degree completion programs, meaning the vast majority of their students already have some college credit," said Liana Loewus, managing editor of education at U.S. News. "The methodologies are developed with those students in mind, setting these rankings apart from those that are focused on recent high school graduates pursuing higher education for the first time."
