The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology received an equipment donation from General Electric that will give students first-hand, real-world experiences in renewable energy integration and distribution.

ENDEAVOR 370, the renewable energy laboratory, has been equipped with micro-wind turbines, solar arrays, converters and energy storage systems. The recent donation from GE, which included hardware and software equipment, will allow for more control and monitoring of this existing equipment.

Blaine and Laura Bunch, Oklahoma State University alumni and GE representatives, were instrumental in this generous donation and in getting the equipment up and running.

Equipment donation from GE adds hands-on learning to renewable energy laboratory.
Assistant Professors, Dr. Nazaripouya and Dr. Cui recieved an equipment donation from General Electric that will bring hands-on learning to the renewable energy laboratory.

Assistant Professors, Dr. Nazaripouya and Dr. Cui, of ECE state that the equipment will provide an interactive learning environment for their course projects in addition to being used in undergraduate research projects and capstone designs. They would also like to use this opportunity to raise awareness of renewable energy resources among a broader community including staff and faculty across the campus.

“The lab’s mission is to provide undergraduate students with education, training, hands-on experience, and professional development activities designed to enhance knowledge and strengthen skills on renewable energy technologies,” Nazaripouya said.

“In the short term, the plan is to set up a demonstration platform to educate our students on renewable energy resources and energy storage and promote Renewable and Innovative Sustainable Energy (RAISE) Awareness in engineering within ECE and CEAT.

"Eventually, in the long-term, we would like to expand the lab so that students can get involved and interact with the platform through lab experiments, running simulations, or designing/implementing/testing their own controllers.”

Continual advancements in the Renewable Energy Laboratory are providing OSU students with the knowledge and experiences to make a difference.
