Two-time OSU alumnus, USAID program pioneer dies

Dr. Clyde Raymond Kindell, a two-time OSU alumnus who played a significant role in the connection of Oklahoma State University and USAID, originally known as the Point Four Program, in Ethiopia, has died.
After receiving his bachelor's of science and doctorate in higher education from Oklahoma State University, he joined the OSU staff to provide services to establish agricultural and technical schools and colleges in Ethiopia.
Dr. Kindell served as director of instruction and research at Jimma Agriculture Technical School in Jimma, Ethiopia from 1958-1960. He later served as president of the Imperial Ethiopian College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts at Alemaya, Ethiopia.
He is the last American president of Alemaya College. He also was a co-founder of the Oklahoma Ethiopian Assistance Group, Inc. and was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 1998.
