Coronavirus update: OSU to hold classes online after spring break

Thursday, March 12, 2020

Coronavirus Update

While today there remains no known cases directly linking COVID-19 to our Stillwater and Tulsa campuses, it has become evident in the past couple of days that we must do our part at Oklahoma State University to help prevent the spread of this virus by taking prudent steps to protect our campuses. Your safety and well-being must be priority number one.

Online Classes Two Weeks After Spring Break

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to protect our campus community, we will be conducting classes online for the Stillwater and Tulsa campuses the two weeks following spring break, beginning Monday, March 23 through Friday, April 3. Please be advised there are currently no known cases of COVID-19 at OSU. The clear guidance from our public health experts is that this step is a move to protect the health of our campus community.

Students leaving campus for spring break should take all instructional materials, including textbooks and devices, to prepare for distance learning.

Campuses Remain Operational

OSU campuses will remain open. All non-classroom activities will continue following our stated travel guidelines. Faculty and staff should report to work as usual. Employees able to temporarily work from home may coordinate with their supervisors to identify possible teleworking opportunities.

Residence halls and dining facilities will remain open during this time.

All university-related events scheduled to occur between March 14-April 5 are suspended, with the possible exception of sporting events, which may be subject to spectator restrictions. This includes, but is not limited to: recruitment events, tours, student programs, reunions, performances, conferences and social events. We will continue to evaluate event hosting and will issue an announcement regarding events slated for April 6 and beyond. For information on OSU athletics, visit okstate.com.

We will continue to monitor the status of COVID-19 and will keep you informed of additional developments impacting our campuses. Please bookmark our main COVID-19 communications page for regular updates and useful FAQs. You may also submit questions to covid19@okstate.edu.

As we have seen, the situation could change in the next few days. We will keep you posted on any new developments over spring break. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we adjust through this challenging issue.
