The beginning of the 2023 academic year brought a unique opportunity for international connections.
Oklahoma State University and the University of Tulsa co-hosted the annual meeting of Mid America Universities International in mid-September. Consisting of 18 universities in middle America, MAUI is an international organization that works to expand educational opportunities for students and individuals looking to teach, consult or conduct research abroad.
MAUI works closely with a European partner, the Utrecht Network, to facilitate student exchange and to reach its goal of delivering collaborative and innovative international programs and services.
MAUI members kicked off the meeting with a number of cultural tours in downtown Tulsa. The agenda included a warm welcome to new members from the Utrecht Network and presentations on the Fulbright Program and the bicentennial celebration of the U.S. Embassy in Mexico.
Dr. Randy Kluver, associate provost and dean of OSU Global, serves as the organization’s president alongside Sam Ball, study abroad coordinator for MAUI and interim director for the Center for Global Learning. OSU Global was also represented by Student Exchange Coordinator Judy Parrott and Dr. Jeff Simpson, assistant dean and director of Global Partnerships.
