Forensic sciences graduate student wins 3MT competition

Thursday, February 25, 2016

Dane Robertson, a graduate student in forensic sciences, will represent OSU-CHS at the OSU Three Minute Thesis finals in Stillwater next week. He won the preliminary competition last week during the 2016 OSU in Tulsa Research Day at OSU-CHS.

Master’s and doctoral student contestants were charged with making a compelling pitch for their thesis in three minutes using only one PowerPoint slide. The contest is aimed at developing students’ skills in relaying their research and its relevance in a cogent but concise manner.

Robertson won $300 and will face other OSU students in the finals at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 3 at the Student Union Little Union Theater at OSU-Stillwater. Michelle DeGear, a biomedical doctorate student, placed second and won $200 and Kristin Dickerson, a master’s student in forensic sciences, won third place and $100. Robertson garnered an additional $300 as the People’s Choice winner. To learn more about the OSU finals, visit the OSU 3MT website.
