Monday, September 26, 2016
Fourth-year medical student Brittany Cross was awarded the American Medical Association’s Dr. Lin and Minta Hill Alexander Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarship. She is one of 25 students in the country selected for the award.
The scholarship rewards academic achievement and financial need by providing $10,000 in tuition assistance to extraordinary medical students entering their fourth year of study. In her second year, Cross was president of the Student Government Association and has been active in college outreach programs such as Operation Orange and advocating for the osteopathic profession with state and federal lawmakers.
The AMA Foundation created the Physicians of Tomorrow Award to ease medical students’ debt load. In addition to academic excellence and financial need, the AMA Foundation also considers community involvement, leadership and the candidate’s personal statement.
