Brian Diener, D.O. receives Patriot Award

Sunday, July 1, 2018

Brian Diener, D.O., FACOS, vice-chairman of OSU Department of Surgery, was recently presented with a Patriot Award by the Oklahoma Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) in recognition of his support of his employees serving in the guard and reserve.

Dr. Diener was nominated by Zach Beam, D.O., a chief resident in the Department of Surgery. Dr. Beam is member of the guard.

Colonel Raymond Knapp from the Oklahoma Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve presented Dr. Diener with the award.

According to the ESGR website, The Patriot Award “reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.”

ESGR, a Department of Defense program, seeks to foster a culture in which all employers support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
