Nutritional sciences student named OSU Outstanding Senior

Friday, March 13, 2020

Keely Ratcliff, nutritional sciences major in the College of Human Sciences, has been named a 2019-2020 Oklahoma State University Outstanding Senior.

The Outstanding Senior award, presented by the OSU Alumni Association, recognizes seniors demonstrating excellence in academic achievement; campus and community involvement; academic, athletic or extra-curricular honors or awards; scholarships and work ethic during their time at OSU.

Ratcliff, from Amber, Oklahoma, demonstrates these traits while pursuing her passions for both rural medicine and sports healthcare and nutrition.

“Whatever I do, I want to live to serve others,” Ratcliff said.

Ratcliff already serves across campus. She is president of the Human Sciences Student Council, has facilitated the OSU President’s Leadership Council and serves as the 2020 OSU Foundation Ambassador for the College of Human Sciences. She is also active behind the scenes of OSU sporting events as a student worker for OSU Sports Nutrition, putting her nutritional sciences major to use.

“Nutritional Sciences gives insight on how people can most effectively live and enjoy their lives,” Ratcliff said. “No matter what occupation I have, that is exactly what I want to provide to others.”

As an aspiring physician’s assistant with a goal of working in a rural community to support high school athletes, Ratcliff has served rural communities by interning in a medical clinic and strengthened her leadership skills as vice president of the Pre-Physician's Assistant Club and as a member of the OSU Student Foundation and Stillwater KLIFE. Ratcliff has served a counselor for and now leads a traveling kids’ camp. Ratcliff also was a member of OSU’s 2019 Homecoming Royalty court and was selected as a College of Human Sciences Senior of Distinction for 2019-2020.

Ratcliff says she hopes her time at OSU has built on the university’s legacy of service. She is also proud of her own family’s OSU legacy; her father, grandparents and great-grandparents attended OSU.

“My family’s love for OSU was contagious,” Ratcliff said. “However, it wasn’t until I officially became a student here that I finally understood. OSU is special because of the people who proudly work and study here.”
