Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology's 232nd graduating class stepped proudly into their future during the Fall 2025 Commencement ceremonies, having completed education and training that they will use to realize professional dreams and strengthen Oklahoma's vital industries.
The two commencement ceremonies were held Friday, one at 10 a.m. and one at 2 p.m., in Covelle Hall on the OSUIT campus. A combined 186 students graduated.
Payne County Treasurer Dr. Lee R. Denney delivered the keynote address during each ceremony. Denney, an OSU graduate with a long, esteemed career as a veterinarian, educator, and public servant, told the graduates that their OSUIT education is a dress rehearsal for a life that is theirs to lead.
"I hope you are open to all kinds of opportunities. I hope you say yes often and then boldly have the confidence to fulfill your dreams," Denney said. "Sometimes the first step is the hardest, so don’t be timid! Follow your passion and stay true to yourself. Never follow someone else’s path, unless you are lost in the woods and you see a path — you should take that path."
Denney, who was a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 2004 to 2016 and served as speaker pro tempore, the second woman in Oklahoma history to hold that position, received a presidential appointment in 2017 to serve as the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development state director for Oklahoma. She ended her remarks by reciting OSU's Cowboy Code.
"We dream as big as the sky.
Being a cowboy isn’t in our clothes, it’s in our character.
We stand for what matters, even if we stand alone.
We end the day knowing we gave it everything we had.
We know challenges come with pain, but pain will not win.
We have a passion to do what’s right, even when it’s hard.
We finish what we start."
The following three outstanding graduates were honored during the ceremonies for their exemplary achievements: Chelsea Lee, Jackson Beggs and Marcus C. Allen.
"It's been a great journey," Allen said. "The OSUIT staff has been very supportive."
Allen received an Associate Degree for Applied Science in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (ACR). He's already building a career with the skills he gained at OSUIT.
"I'm already working at a job. As soon as I graduate, I'll start working full time," he said.
