LTC Dahlke to Speak at Veterans Day Ceremony

Monday, November 7, 2016

On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2016, a short ceremony will be held at 12 p.m. to honor all military personnel and their families—past, present and future. The ceremony will take place at the OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences’ Military Veterinarian Honor Court located on the northeast corner of McElroy Hall at the intersection of McFarland and West Farm Road on the OSU Stillwater campus.

Lt. Col. Benjamin Dahlke will present “The Next Greatest Generation.” He is the Commander of Air Force ROTC Detachment 670 at OSU, a professor and head of the Department of Aerospace Studies in the College of Arts and Sciences.

For ages veterinarians have served an important role in the military. They treat military working dogs and horses and care for pets of service members and retirees. They also serve as public health officers checking food supply sources for all military personnel and ensuring safe food and water supplies for those deployed worldwide.

Lt. Col. Daniel Holland, DVM, Class of 1988, died in the line of duty while serving his country in Iraq. Currently ten veterinary students are enlisted in the military and will become active duty upon their graduation.

All are welcome to attend the Veterans Day Ceremony.
