OSU Represented at International Veterinary Parasitology Meeting

Several veterinarians and parasitologists connected to Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences recently traveled to Liverpool, United Kingdom, to attend the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology Meeting.

OSU’s veterinary center houses the National Center for Veterinary Parasitology (NCVP). Representing the NCVP industry sponsor board members were Dan Snyder, DVM, PhD, with Elanco and Chris Adolph, DVM, MS, with Zoetis. Adolph earned his DVM degree from OSU in 1996 and is a former NCVP affiliate. NCVP academic board members were also in attendance: Anne Zajac, DVM, MS, PhD, from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and Byron Blagburn, MS, PhD, from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Representing the NCVP residents were Yoko Nagamori, DVM, PhD student; Jessica Rodriguez, DVM, PhD student; and Lindsay Starkey, DVM, PhD. Nagamori, with OSU, displayed her research on Alaria. Rodriguez, from Texas A&M, shared her schistosome research. Also with OSU, Starkey, a 2011 alumna, presented her research on the prevalence of vector-borne infections in dogs from Haiti.

Also attending was Brian Herrin, DVM, PhD candidate, and NCVP affiliate. Herrin presented on Lyme borreliosis in Canada. He earned his DVM from OSU in 2014.
