4H Day 2017
Thursday, May 25, 2017
Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences hosted 17 high school 4-H students from across Oklahoma.
Students listened to a presentation on the center’s DVM program and participated in several hands-on activities. In the equine section of OSU’s Veterinary Medical Hospital, students learned about suturing, palpating, using a stethoscope, and leg wrapping. In veterinary parasitology, visitors had an opportunity to see a variety of parasites that affect livestock and in the anatomy lab, students heard about the heart and were able to work with actual pig hearts.
Special thanks to the following volunteers for making the day informative and memorable for these 4-H students: Abraham Gamino-Aviles, Kirsten Grammer and Jared Neminger with the class of 2020; Ambassadors Mary Beth Davis (’19), Shannon Davis (’19), Julia Jordy (’20) and Austin Stutts (’20), Anna Teague with Student Services, Emily Snow with Continuing Education, Drs. Kelly Allen, Mason Reichard, Elisabeth Giedt and Jill Akkerman.
