Krugler Named Distinguished Veterinarian of the Year

Friday, February 3, 2017

Dr. Charlotte Krugler of Elgin, S.C., was recently named Distinguished Veterinarian of the Year by the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians. During the 2015 floods in South Carolina, Dr. Krugler worked with the state emergency management division coordinating statewide resources to assist animals.

Krugler serves as an emergency preparedness veterinarian and extension veterinarian at Clemson University and has served as an adjunct professor in the university’s Animal and Veterinary Sciences Department.

“My job at the South Carolina State Veterinarian’s office involves a lively mix of livestock and poultry disease response and recovery planning as well as animal/agriculture-related disaster preparedness for the state,” says Krugler. “It was a surprise and an honor to be selected by the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians for this award.”

Krugler earned her DVM degree from Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences in 1985. She is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine.
