Kalyani Ektate, PhD candidate at Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, recently received the Kocan Memorial Graduate Student Award. This $500 award recognizes excellence in graduate research at the veterinary center. Ektate’s research project is “Motion Compensated Ultrasound Imaging Allows Thermometry and Image-Guided Drug Delivery Monitoring from Echogenic Liposomes.”
“Kalyani is a most deserving recipient of the Kocan Memorial Graduate Student Award,” said Dr. Katherine Kocan, sponsor of the research award. “I enjoyed visiting with her and learning of her career goals and her exciting research in the laboratory of Dr. Ranjan on the development of nanopharmaceutics for targeted drug delivery. The quality of Kalyani’s research contributes to high standards for our graduate research program.”
Ektate is a graduate teaching associate in Gross and Developmental Anatomy and a PhD candidate in the Laboratory of Nanomedicine and Targeted Therapy. She is mentored by Dr. Ashish Ranjan, associate professor and Kerr Chair in the Department of Physiological Sciences.
