Liu Named APS Fellow

The Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences is excited to announce that Lin Liu, Ph.D., FAPS, has been named a Fellow of the American Physiological Society.

According to the American Physiological Society, the rank of Fellow is an elite member status reserved to honor distinguished leaders who have demonstrated excellence in science, have made significant contributions to physiological sciences and related disciplines, and have served the Society. The Fellow designation is an honor and remains valid for the duration of APS membership.

Dr. Liu is the founding director of the Oklahoma Center for Respiratory and Infectious Diseases, a Regents professor and holder of the Lundberg-Kienlen Endowed Chair in Biomedical Research. He is also a Riata Faculty Fellow in the OSU School of Entrepreneurship, founding director of the Interdisciplinary Program in Regenerative Medicine, and director of the Lung Biology and Toxicology Laboratory. His research interests focus on the development of drugs targeting host factors for treating influenza virus infection, adult stem cell therapy of COPD, and pathogenesis of pulmonary fibrosis.

“We are extremely proud of Dr. Liu’s achievements including this most recent honor,” said Dr. Martin Furr, head of the Department of Physiological Sciences. “Dr. Liu consistently receives grant money from federal agencies, foundations, and other local agencies that total more than $33 million since he joined OSU in 2000. He also inspires rising scientists by training postdoctoral fellows, Ph.D. students, veterinary students, and undergraduate students. We are fortunate to have his expertise and his passion at work here at OSU.”
