Dr. Michael Davis, professor and Oxley Endowed Chair at Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, heads the center’s Comparative Exercise Physiology Laboratory assisted by veterinary technician Montana Fulton. Recently Davis and Fulton attended the 139th IOC conference on mitochondrial respirometry in Schroeken, Austria. An international audience from 10 different countries attended the conference, which was held at a remote ski lodge high in the Austrian Alps.

Fulton presented an abstract entitled, “Effect of hyperthermia on mitochondrial function in canine skeletal muscle.”

During the conference, Dr. Erich Gnaiger presented Davis with a certificate recognizing Dr. Davis’ laboratory as an expert laboratory in the field of high resolution respirometry. Previously Davis hosted the 84th IOC, which was held at Davis’ laboratory in Big Lake, Alaska.

The Comparative Exercise Physiology Laboratory performs basic, translational, and applied research in the field of exercise physiology and sports medicine with the goal of improving the health and well-being and performance of animal athletes – even humans.
