Thanks to its generous donors, Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences recently awarded $542,270 in scholarships to 158 different veterinary students.
Congratulations to Jesse Jenny, class of 2019, on receiving two top honors. Jenny received the Gentle Doctor award and the Dean Clarence H. McElroy Award.
Gentle Doctor Award
This award is a reflection of concern, affection, love, and the significance of life for all of God’s creatures great and small. Created in heroic, larger-than-life proportions, the statue Jenny received recognizes the strength, endurance, and skillfulness a successful veterinarian would need to possess. Recipients are chosen by class ballet.
Dean Clarence H. McElroy Award
Created in honor of the founding Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Dean Clarence H. McElroy Award recognizes high academic achievement, leadership and outstanding clinical proficiency. A ballot of faculty and class peers determines the McElroy Award recipient, the highest honor an Oklahoma State University veterinary student can earn.
Dean Harry W. Orr Memorial Award
Morgan Chayes, class of 2020, received the Dean Harry W. Orr Memorial Award. Established in honor of the second dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, this award recognizes an outstanding preclinical veterinary student at the completion of his/her first three years of the DVM program.
