OSU Veterinary College Moves Annual Fall Conference Online

Tuesday, August 11, 2020

Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine announced that its Annual Fall Veterinary Conference will be a virtual format held Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 4 – 6, 2020.

“Veterinarians need so many hours of continuing education units to keep their veterinary license, so it’s important that we continue to give them opportunities to expand their knowledge base,” said Dr. Rosslyn Biggs, director of continuing education and beef cattle extension specialist at the veterinary college. “Because of COVID-19 and related health and safety concerns, we are moving the entire conference online.”

Attendees will be able to earn a total of 14 CE units. Wednesday evening, Nov. 4, keynote speaker Burke Healey, DVM (OSU CVM ’84), will launch the conference beginning at 6 p.m. Healey is the chief veterinary officer for the U.S. and deputy administrator for the United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Veterinary Services, the top veterinary position in regulatory or public practice for a veterinarian. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 5 and 6, participants will be in sessions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. focusing on companion animal, food animal or equine related topics. Conference organizers will be seeking RACE approval.

“We have a great lineup of presenters scheduled,” said Biggs. “Eliminating travel costs allows us access to an unlimited number of veterinary experts. The conference is open to veterinarians and veterinary technicians. We look forward to connecting with alumni and veterinarians across the country and internationally.”

Registration opens Sept. 1, 2020. Early bird registration is $350 per person for those registering by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, 2020. For complete conference details and to register, visit the CE website.
