2014 Fall Garden Concert Series kicks off Sept. 12

Thursday, September 4, 2014

Students are back in school. Football season is underway and fall is in the air. There is no better way to celebrate than with some live music at The Botanic Garden at Oklahoma State University.

Kim Toscano, host of Oklahoma Gardening, said she is excited to be offering the concert series again this fall.

“The series of concerts we hosted at The Botanic Garden at Oklahoma State University last fall and this spring were very popular,” Toscano said. “We received such positive feedback we decided to continue the tradition. This season’s concert dates are Sept. 12, Sept. 19 and Sept. 26.”

Kicking off the fall series will be the Tequila Songbirds. This trio of singer/songwriters will take the audience on a song swap, where the ladies take turns playing their own songs with the accompaniment and harmonizing vocals of one another.

The Jared Tyler Band from Tulsa will be featured Sept. 19. He is an amazing multi-instrumentalist and will introduce some roots folk music to visitors who come to TBG at OSU for the concert series.

Sept. 26 will showcase the music of Kyle Reid and the Low Swinging Chariots. This jazz-inspired group will bring a variety of jazz music to the garden. He may even have one of his homemade cigar box guitars.

“We’re excited to have all three of these bands featured at TBG at OSU. They each offer a different type of music that will appeal to a diverse audience” she said.

The concerts will take place each week from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We encourage families to bring their lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic supper and enjoy some great music in the beautiful surroundings in one of Stillwater’s most celebrated features. This concert series is a great way to end the work week on a positive note with some wonderful musical entertainment.

There will be limited snacks and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. In addition, there will be a few select plants and shrubs available for sale. Proceeds from the plant sale will help support activities at TBG at OSU, such as the concert series and other events.

“The concert series and other events we host at TBG at OSU are fun ways to draw the public out to the garden and let them experience first-hand the beauty of the area,” Toscano said.

The concert series would not be possible without the generous support of local businesses including Hideaway Pizza, Kicker, Daddy O’s Music, the OSU Office of the President and Flourishes.
