2015 Fall Garden Concert Series begins Sept. 11

Wednesday, September 2, 2015

Stillwater area residents who enjoy great music and outdoor fun can enjoy both at The Botanic Garden at Oklahoma State University’s fall concert series.

Back by popular demand, the series includes concerts slated Sept. 11, Sept. 18 and Sept., 23, said Laura Payne, volunteer coordinator at The Botanic Garden at OSU.

“We began hosting the concert series in the fall of 2013 and they are quite popular with the public,” Payne said. “The concert series and other events we host at The Botanic Garden at OSU are fun ways to draw the public out to the garden and let them experience first-hand the beauty of the area. It’s also a great way to connect the community to OSU.”

All three of the bands featured in this fall are from the Stillwater area. Kicking off the season Sept. 11 will be Stillwater-favorite Val Gladden Band. Featuring the perfect blend of country, rock and soul music, there will be tunes to appeal to just about everyone. Dom and the riff will take the stage Sept. 18, and combine multiple genres to create a sound of their own. The concert slated Sept. 25 will showcase the talents of guitarist/vocalist Tyler Siems. All of the concerts will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

“We encourage families to bring a picnic supper and chairs or a blanket and come out to enjoy the music and the beautiful gardens,” she said. “This is a fun and relaxing way to kick off your weekend and people of all ages are encouraged to come out and spend a couple of hours at The Botanic Garden at OSU.

The concert series would not be possible without the generous support of local businesses, including Hideaway Pizza, Kicker, Daddy O’s Music, the OSU Office of the President, Flourishes Flowers and the Arts and Humanities Council of Stillwater.

“All of the concerts in the series are free, but donations are greatly appreciated to help us continue to offer fun and entertaining opportunities at The Botanic Garden at OSU,” Payne said. “Make plans to come out and enjoy the garden. With the weather starting to cool down, it’s a great time to come visit The Botanic Garden at OSU. Come out and soak up the great weather and the spectacular music.”

The Botanic Garden at OSU is located west of Stillwater on the north side of Highway 51. For more information, please visit botanicgarden.okstate.edu.
