Master Manager workshop series begins in January

Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Agricultural producers looking to make the most of their money should register now to attend the Master Manager of Oklahoma workshop series set to begin January 20-21.

“The series is an intensive four-part course that will enable producers to better utilize tools such as forward pricing, farm financial analysis and crop insurance to manage risk in their farming operation,” said Jason Pace, Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension agricultural economist for the state’s Southwest District.

Participants should plan to attend all four two-day sessions, which will take place at the Frisco Conference Center in Clinton, located at 101 S. 4th St. Workshop sessions are scheduled for Jan. 20-21, Feb. 3-4, Feb. 17-18 and March 3-4.

“Think of the Master Manager series as one-stop shopping for producers well-versed in crop production but who need a better grasp of farm financial management, as well as providing needed knowledge for younger producers seeking to make the transition from support roles to management,” Pace said.

Registration is $200 per participant, and includes admittance to all four two-day sessions, breakfast and lunch for all eight days, hands-on training exercises, all printed workshop materials and a Master Manager certificate presented upon completion of the program.

To register, contact the OSU Cooperative Extension Southwest District Office by phone at 580-255-0546 or by mail at 1313 W. Ash St., Suite 108, Duncan, OK 73533.

“In addition to gaining a wealth of practical knowledge, participants also will take part in a comprehensive marketing and risk management simulation, as well as a customized marketing plan review and consultation,” Pace said.

The Master Manager of Oklahoma workshop series is sponsored by the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Risk Management Agency.
