2017 Organic Oklahoma Conference slated Oct. 4-5

If you are interested in sustainable and organic production, make plans now to attend the 2017 Organic Oklahoma Conference in Oklahoma City slated Oct. 4-5.

Sustainable and organic production continues to be an important topic in the state. Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension and OSU-OKC are partnering with the U.S. Department of Agriculture – Natural Resources Conservation Service and several other organizations to help provide research-based information to both new and advanced growers during the conference.

Participants in the 2017 Organic Oklahoma Conference and the preconference food safety training will meet in the Student Center on the OSU/OKC campus, 900 N. Portland Ave. Registration is $15 for the preconference Food Safety Modernization Act one-day training Oct. 4 and $25 for the one-day Organic Oklahoma Conference Oct. 5. Both registrations include educational materials and some meals.

Some of the topics on the agenda include nutrient management, organic certification, cover crops, risk management, organic bio-extensive management, food safety and food modernization, insect management and a review of organic literature.
