Historic Win for OSU Animal Science
Tuesday, September 19, 2017
The Oklahoma State University Swine Research and Education Center team won Grand Champion Truckload at the 2017 National Swine Registry’s National Barrow Show on September 11, 2017. The team entered the truckload contest with a set of six purebred Yorkshire barrows. The OSU Swine Center has exhibited breeding stock at the show in previous years, however, this is the first time OSU has been represented in the truckload competition.
The National Barrow Show (NBS) has been held annually since 1946 with cancellations in 1952 and 2001 for swine health concerns. The truckload contest has been a key piece of NBS since its founding.
This win is just one way the OSU Swine Center is promoting the Brand of Excellence for the OSU Department of Animal Science.
