Student spotlight: Dylan Steeley

Friday, February 17, 2017

Say hello to the Charles and Linda Cline Equine Teaching Center intern, Dylan Steeley! Steeley grew up riding horses and working cattle on his grandparents ranch, then landed a job breaking colts through high school on a ranch in Owasso, Okla. He is currently an animal science junior with a business option and has been working at the Cline center for about a year.

Steeley said his main responsibility at the farm is riding two 3-year-old horses and preparing them to be sold.

Through balancing school and work, Steeley said that his greatest challenge at the farm doesn't come from riding the horses, but rather trying to fit everything in his busy schedule.

Even though challenges exist, Steeley said being able to watch the horses grow makes it all worth it. "The most rewarding part is watching them progress throughout the year," Steeley said.

When not in the classroom or on the back of a horse, Steeley said he enjoys playing basketball, golf and going fishing.

If you are in the area, stop in the Cline Equine Teaching Center and tell him hi!

Thank you Dylan for all of your hard work!
