Catherine Haviland receives Phoenix Award

Catherine Haviland, graduate student, received the 2018 Phoenix Award (Ph.D.)! The award is presented each year to one master’s student and one doctoral student who have shown exemplary achievement in leadership and scholarship, community and university service, and professional involvement.

Catherine is originally from Chubbuck, Idaho. She pursuing her Ph.D. in animal science with a focus in ruminant nutrition and is advised by Dr. Chris Richards. During her time at OSU, Catherine has served as president and social chair for the Graduate and Professional Student Government Association (GPSGA) and been a member of the Animal Science Graduate Student Association (ASGSA).

Catherine was recognized at an awards ceremony on April 25th, 2018, where she received her trophy. As part of the award, Catherine received $350 from the GPSGA and the Graduate College. Her name will also be engraved on the Phoenix Awards Plaque in Whitehurst Hall.
