Ferguson College of Agriculture recognizes students, faculty and alumni at annual banquet

The Oklahoma State University Ferguson College of Agriculture presented scholarships to more than 150 continuing students at the annual Scholarships and Awards Banquet on April 4.
The scholarships presented are part of the more than $1.8 million students receive from the Ferguson College and its academic departments for the 2024-25 academic year.
Alongside the scholarship recipients, 20 seniors were named Ferguson College Seniors of Distinction. Additionally, several faculty members were recognized for their achievements in teaching, advising and student mentoring, and two Ferguson College alumni were recognized for their success in their respective careers.
“The banquet is our time to celebrate the college’s outstanding students, faculty and alumni,” said Cynda Clary, associate dean of academic programs. "Their hard work, involvement and dedication to success does not go unnoticed and we are proud to honor their experiences and accomplishments."
Erin Slagell was named the 2024 Louis and Betty Gardner Outstanding Senior. Slagell is a food science major from Hydro, Oklahoma.
The Ferguson College recognized 20 Seniors of Distinction. Of the 20 Seniors of Distinction listed below, four were also honored with the Dean’s Award of Excellence (indicated by an *).

Four Ferguson College faculty members were recognized for their commitment to teaching, advising and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. The recipients are:
- Hannah Shear, Early Career Excellence in Teaching Award — Department of Agricultural Economics
- Gretchen Mafi, Excellence in Undergraduate Student Advising and Mentoring Award — Department of Animal and Food Sciences
- Wade Brorsen, Excellence in Graduate Student Advising and Mentoring Award — Department of Agricultural Economics
- Bruce Dunn, Excellence in Teaching Award — Horticulture and Landscape Architecture
The Ferguson College Alumni Society Board recognized two alumni for their outstanding achievement and success in their careers with the Alumni Early Career Achievement award. The recipients of this award are:
- Jered Davidson, agricultural economics, 2009, attorney at The Public Finance Law Group PLLC
- Kyle Hilbert, agribusiness, 2016, District 29 representative at the Oklahoma House of Representatives
