Oklahoma State University and the University of Nevada, Reno are partnering to offer an innovative gaming leadership conference for industry experts on casino marketing strategies, data analytics and agile project management for casinos.

The 2019 Building Business Acumen for Gaming Conference will be Jan. 28-31 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa.

Participants will gain valuable industry insight crucial to the productivity and profitability of gaming businesses such as strategic planning, promotional activities, data analysis and project management.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to further advance this program by collaborating with the American Gaming Association,” said Becca Ramsey, program coordinator for the conference. “Utilizing industry experts, we are providing innovative content that will directly impact the success of casino businesses and their leadership teams.”

Faculty from OSU’s Spears School of Business leading sessions are Dr. Ramesh Sharda (Decision Making Using Data), Dr. Goutam Chakraborty (Decision Making Using Data Analytics and Strategy and Tactics via Business Simulation: Bringing it All Together), and Dr. Lex Smith Washington (Emotional Intelligence). Also presenting will be Mary Loftness of the University of Nevada, Reno (Casino Marketing Strategies) and Ted Washington with Walmart Logistics (Agile Project Management for Casinos).

In addition to the engaging and interactive curriculum, the program also features the American Gaming Association’s Elevate: Paid to Think series by David Goldsmith.

Goldsmith will explore the specific activities that empower human capital, maximize potential, and increase individual and organization performance. He will also discuss how to incorporate proven forecasting techniques that will expand opportunities, accelerate growth and drive long-term success.

AGA Elevate is an interactive, educational peer exchange of information around critical gaming and business topics. Through a combination of face-to-face and virtual learning opportunities, AGA Elevate offers year-round engagement experiences for actionable learning to promote comprehensive, problem-solving approaches that confront today’s challenges.

A certificate of completion will be awarded following the program, and the 30 hours of instruction can be counted toward the Certificate in Gaming Management accreditation offered at UNR.
