Oklahoma State University claimed the top spot in Oklahoma for a public university in the category of Best Value schools, ranking 172nd, improving six spots from the previous year (178th) in the latest “U.S News and World Report’s” Best College Rankings list released this week.

This year, OSU’s tuition and mandatory fees remained flat for the second straight year, aligning with the We Are Land-grant Strategy to position the university as the nation's preeminent land-grant university by improving higher education access for students in Oklahoma and beyond.

OSU ranked in two inaugural categories of medium to large undergraduate programs. OSU placed in the top 25% of U.S. News’ psychology programs category, as it tied for 130th. In another U.S. News first — its published ranking of undergraduate economics programs — OSU ranked 201st.

In the classic categories, OSU improved in several areas.

In the category of Best National University, OSU tied for 185th out of nearly 440 schools, both public and private. As a Top Public School among national universities, OSU tied for 101st.

In the Best Colleges for Veterans category, OSU tied for 129th, ahead of Big 12 Conference schools such as Texas Tech University, West Virginia University and Texas Christian University.

The undergraduate overall computer science program improved again, moving up two spots. The program is now tied at 139th.

The Spears School of Business ranked in the top 20% in the undergraduate business school category, tied for 84th. OSU also tied for 34th in the Entrepreneurship category.

In the category of Undergraduate Engineering (doctorate) Programs, OSU’s College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology ranked best in the state, tied for 90th nationally — improving from 94th in 2023.
